Your images never leave your device: they’re converted right here, in your browser. No uploads, no sign-up.

Convert to

How it works: your browser opens each image, redraws it on a canvas at the width you pick and saves it in the new format. Nothing goes to any server. Animated WebP files keep only their first frame. When you download them all, your browser may ask permission to save multiple files.

To convert PNG to JPG you don't need to install anything or upload your images to someone else's server. This tool does it in your browser, several images at once, and lets you pick the color for any transparent areas. It's exactly what you need when a PNG is too heavy to email or upload to your store.

How to convert PNG to JPG, step by step

    1. Drop your PNG files

One or many. You can also paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V, since those are usually PNG.

    2. Pick the background color

If the PNG has transparency, choose what fills it: white by default, black or your brand’s HEX code.

    3. Set quality and width

80 to 85 for everyday use, 90 or more for PNG to JPG high quality. With a max width, the image shrinks without stretching.

    4. Download

One by one or all in a row, with the before and after size of each file.

Transparency: the detail almost nobody gets right

JPG can't store transparency. When you turn a logo or a product cutout into a JPG, the transparent background has to become something, and most converters quietly paint it white. If your site has a cream background or your product card sits on gray, that white box sticks out. Here you type the exact color and the JPG fits right in.

How much smaller is a JPG? Our test

We ran it in Chrome in October 2026, at quality 85:

    ImagePNGJPGSaved
    Photo-style image, 1,200 × 800 px1.9 MB204 KB90%
    Screenshot, 1,280 × 900 px147 KB116 KB21%
    Logo, 1,471 × 400 px38 KB32 KB15%

The takeaway: the big savings come from photos saved as PNG, like the ones many AI image generators hand you. With screenshots and logos, JPG barely helps and it blurs text. For those, stay in PNG and slim it down with the compressor linked in the pro move below, which trims the colors without changing the format.

Convert PNG to JPG on Mac, Windows and iPhone, no app needed

Got a single image and no rush? Your computer already knows how.

    • Windows (Paint): open the PNG, then choose File, Save as and JPEG picture.
    • Mac (Preview): with the image open, go to File, Export and pick JPEG from the Format menu. A slider sets the quality, as Apple’s guide explains. You can also Control-click the file in Finder and choose Quick Actions, then Convert Image.
    • iPhone and Android: open this page in your phone’s browser. The conversion runs there, so nothing gets uploaded.

One catch with transparent PNGs: these shortcuts don’t ask what color should fill the gaps, so always check the result. And none of them converts forty files at once. For a cutout logo or a batch of product shots, the tool above is faster and more predictable.

Convert screenshot to JPG without saving the PNG first

Screenshots are where most PNGs come from, and the shortcut is to skip saving them. On Windows, the Print Screen key puts a snapshot of your whole screen on the clipboard, according to Microsoft. On a Mac, add Control to the screenshot keys (say, Control + Shift + Command + 3) and Apple copies the shot to the clipboard instead of saving it to the desktop. Then paste with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac) into the tool above and download the JPG.

Before you convert, look at what’s in the shot. With text, tables or app screens, JPG barely helps and blurs the letters: in our test, a 147 KB screenshot only dropped to 116 KB. With photos or gradient backgrounds, the savings are real. Quick rule: screenshots of a website full of photos go to JPG, while screenshots of text or spreadsheets stay PNG.

A clear business case: product photos. Marketplaces want a white background and light files, so a PNG cutout converted to JPG with a #FFFFFF background ticks both boxes. If you sell on social, see how to sell on TikTok Shop and prep your whole catalog this way.

Frequently asked questions about converting PNG to JPG

How do I convert a PNG to a JPG file?

Drop your PNG files into the tool above: JPG is already selected. If they have transparent areas, pick the background color. Set the quality (80 to 85 for everyday use) and download them one by one or all at once. Each row shows the old size, the new size and how much you saved. Nothing gets uploaded.

    Is PNG better than JPG?

It depends on the image. For photos, JPG wins: much smaller files and no visible difference. For logos, screenshots with text, flat graphics or anything with a transparent background, PNG wins, because it keeps edges sharp and supports transparency. For your website, there's a third option that often beats both: WebP.

What happens to transparency when you convert PNG to JPG?

JPG can't store transparency, so those areas have to be filled with a color. Most converters paint them white without asking; here you choose: white, black or your exact brand color in HEX. If you need to keep the transparent background, don't convert to JPG at all: stick with PNG or WebP.

What is the difference between PNG and JPG?

PNG is lossless and supports transparency: it stores every pixel exactly, which is why it's heavier. JPG is lossy and drops detail the eye barely notices, so it's much lighter, but it has no transparency. In practice: PNG for graphics, logos and screenshots; JPG for photos you're going to share, print or upload.

    What is PNG?

PNG stands for Portable Network Graphics, a lossless image format with transparency support. It's what screenshots use, along with many logos and plenty of AI-generated images. Its weak spot is file size with photos: a photo saved as PNG can be ten times heavier than the same photo as a JPG.
