Invisible character and blank text to copy and paste
Copy an invisible character in one click: the blank that actually sticks in names, bios and messages, plus spaces in other sizes. Below, a test box finds, highlights and cleans any hidden character.
Most used: U+3164, Hangul filler
Blank, for names, usernames and messages
-
Hangul filler
U+3164Blank names and usernames in Free Fire, WhatsApp and Instagram. As wide as a letter.
-
Braille blank
U+2800Empty lines in Instagram and TikTok captions, and “blank” messages on WhatsApp.
-
Halfwidth Hangul filler
U+FFA0Narrower than the Hangul filler. Try it when the first one won’t get past a game’s filter.
-
Hangul choseong filler
U+115FAnother option for names. Many phones show it with no width: test it first.
-
Zero width space
U+200BInvisible and takes no space. Breaks long URLs or words with no visible gap. Many apps strip it from names.
Spaces in other sizes
-
Non-breaking space
U+00A0A regular space that won’t break across lines: “100 lbs”, “$10 M”. In HTML it’s .
-
Narrow non-breaking space
U+202FThinner than a regular space and doesn’t break either. For numbers and units.
-
Hair space
U+200AThe smallest visible space.
-
Thin space
U+2009Small, for fine-tuning by hand.
-
Em space
U+2003Wide, as wide as an “M”.
-
Ideographic space (the widest)
U+3000As wide as a Chinese character.
No invisible characters
Apps change their filters without notice: this is what the community confirms as of October 2026, not a guarantee. Test it on your profile before you rely on it. Your text never leaves your browser.
How to copy and paste invisible character options
An invisible character isn’t magic: it’s a Unicode character that takes up space but draws nothing. This tool gives you the ones that hold up best, tells you what each is for and lets you test them before they go on your profile.
-
Copy the most used one
The big button copies the Hangul filler (U+3164), the blank most people use for names and usernames.
-
Choose how many
Set “How many at once?” to 3, 10 or 50 and copy them all together. It works for every card.
-
Test it before you post
Paste into the test box: it tells you how many invisible characters there are, which ones, and highlights them in red with their code.
-
Clean or prep your text
“Remove invisible characters” cleans your text. “Fill empty lines for Instagram” fills each blank line and copies the result.
Which empty character goes where
Here’s what the community confirms as of October 2026. It’s not a guarantee: apps change their filters without warning, so test on your own profile before you rely on it.
| Character | Code | Where it usually works | Certainty |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hangul filler | U+3164 | Invisible name on WhatsApp, Instagram and Free Fire | Medium |
| Braille blank | U+2800 | Blank lines in captions and blank messages | Medium |
| Halfwidth Hangul filler | U+FFA0 | Backup when a game rejects U+3164 | Low |
| Zero width space | U+200B | Breaking long URLs; many apps strip it from names | Low |
| Non-breaking space | U+00A0 | Keeping “$10 M” from splitting across lines | High |
One thing is certain: usernames on Discord, Instagram and TikTok only accept regular letters, numbers, periods and underscores. No invisible letter gets in there.
Why apps delete your invisible text
Apps trim extra spaces at the start and end of a field, and many strip zero width characters. The trick with the Unicode Hangul filler is that the system treats it as a letter, not a space. That’s why it often gets past filters that kill a regular space. The Braille blank is a symbol, so it can hold up a line that Instagram would otherwise tend to merge with the one above.
If one blank character doesn’t stick, try the next one in its group. Need a gap of a different size? The second set of cards goes from the thinnest space to the widest.
Invisible text in Word and Excel (and why not on your website)
“Invisible text” pulls about 33,100 searches a month in the US, according to DataForSEO (October 2026), and part of that crowd wants hidden text in a document, not a blank username. In Office, formatting does the job.
- Word: select the text, open the Font dialog from the Home tab and check Hidden. It won’t print unless you turn on printing hidden text in the options.
- Excel: select the cells, open Format Cells, pick Custom and type three semicolons (;;;). The cell looks empty, but the value stays in the formula bar. To undo it, apply the General format again.
On a website, don’t. Text that matches the background, sits off-screen or has a font size of zero counts as hidden text under Google’s spam policies. It can lead to a manual action that pushes your pages down in results or drops them altogether.
Zero width space: what U+200B does and when it breaks your links
“Zero width space” gets about 2,900 searches a month in the US (DataForSEO, October 2026). U+200B takes no width at all, so it tells a browser where a long word or URL may break without showing a gap. It is also the usual suspect when pasted text looks fine and misbehaves:
- A link: a U+200B inside a URL makes it a different address, so the link can fail. A campaign tag can reach Analytics as a source nobody recognizes.
- A spreadsheet: two cells that look identical won’t match if one carries a hidden character.
- A username: some apps strip it, so your “invisible” name comes out empty.
To find it, paste the text in the test box above: each hidden character shows in red with its code, and one click removes them. In Excel, use =SUBSTITUTE(A1,UNICHAR(8203),""). For a non-breaking space, use =TRIM(SUBSTITUTE(A1,CHAR(160)," ")), because TRIM alone leaves it, according to Microsoft.
Blank space copy and paste: uses for business
- A bio that breathes: three short lines with space between them read better than a block. Prep your bio with the Instagram button and paste it as is.
- Cleaning what you paste: copying from Word or a web page drags in non-breaking spaces and other hidden characters that throw off product listings and ads. Paste here, see how many there are and remove them in one click.
- Gaming and communities: an invisible name in a group chat or a game lobby gets attention in player communities.
Invisible text doesn’t count for your reader, but it does count toward the limit, so run your bio through the character counter before posting. Frequently asked questions about the invisible character
How do I make an invisible name on TikTok?
Your @username can’t be invisible: TikTok only accepts letters, numbers, underscores and periods there. Your Name field is more flexible, so copy the Hangul filler (U+3164) here, go to Edit profile and paste it into Name, alone or between words. TikTok doesn’t document which characters it allows in Name and may strip it, so check your profile right after saving. If it disappears, try the halfwidth filler (U+FFA0).
How do I make an invisible name on Discord?
Not in your username: Discord only allows lowercase letters, numbers, underscores and periods there, per its official rules. Your display name and server nicknames are more open. Copy the Hangul filler (U+3164) or the Braille blank (U+2800) here and paste it into either field. Discord changes its filters over time and some servers block blank nicknames with bots, so if it bounces, try the other character.
How do I type an invisible character on iPhone?
There’s no key for it, so copy it from this page in Safari and paste it wherever you need it. If you use it often, you can try saving it as a text replacement: go to Settings, General, Keyboard, Text Replacement, paste the character as the phrase and give it a shortcut like “zzblank.” Test it in a note first, since some apps trim what you paste.
How do I copy and paste blank text?
Use the buttons on this page: every card has its own Copy button, so the character goes straight to your clipboard without trying to select something you can’t see. To copy several at once, set “How many at once?” first. Then paste into the test box to confirm: it tells you how many invisible characters you have, which ones, and highlights each one in red with its code.
Which invisible character works on Instagram?
For blank lines in captions and bios, the Braille blank (U+2800) is the community favorite: paste your text in the test box and tap “Fill empty lines for Instagram.” For a blank name or a gap inside your name, use the Hangul filler (U+3164). Neither works in your @username, which only accepts letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Instagram changes its filters without notice, so check your profile after saving.
