Nothing is saved or sent to any server, and there are no cookies: the date, time, time zone and title travel inside the link itself. Key dates are worked out fresh every year (Black Friday is the day after the fourth Thursday in November) at 12:00 AM in the time zone you pick.
This countdown timer counts down to any date and time, in whatever time zone you pick, and gives you a link so anyone can watch the same clock on their phone. Black Friday, Christmas and New Year’s come pre-calculated, and full screen is built for lives and the TV in your store.
How to set a countdown timer with date and time zone
-
Name it
In “Title,” type what you’re waiting for: “Collection drop,” “Live Q&A with Ana” or “Sale ends.” It shows above the numbers.
-
Set the date, time and time zone
Fill in “Date” and “Time” and check the “Time zone”: it starts with your device’s, with the most used ones on top and every zone in the world below. If it isn’t your zone, you’ll also see the end time in “Your time.”
-
Or grab a shortcut
“Key dates” has Black Friday, Christmas and New Year; “Starts in” has 5 min, 15 min and 1 hour, perfect for kicking off a live.
-
Share it or put it on screen
Hit “Copy link” and send it, or hit “Full screen” to show it big. Press Esc or the same button to exit.
Nothing is saved and there are no cookies: the date, time, zone and title travel inside the link. Change anything and the address bar updates too, so you can copy it from there. That makes it a countdown to date you can text, email or pin.
10 minute timer, 5 minute timer and 25 minute timer: how to set them
“10 minute timer” gets about 673,000 searches a month in the US, “5 minute timer” 550,000 and “25 minute timer” 110,000, according to DataForSEO (October 2026). This tool works as one too:
- Under “Starts in,” tap 5 min and look at the end time it fills in.
- Change the minutes of that time. If it’s 10:05 now and you want 25 minutes, type 10:30.
- Tap Full screen and leave it on the TV or projector.
There’s no alarm: at zero it shows “Time’s up.” So it suits things people watch, like the start of a live stream, a flash sale or a webinar waiting room. And 25 minutes is the work block of the Pomodoro technique.
How the countdown clock works out the time left
First, the date and time you enter become one exact moment, using the IANA time zone database built into your browser, daylight saving time included. Then, once per second:
| Value | Math |
|---|---|
| Seconds left | (end − now) / 1,000, rounded up |
| Days | whole part of seconds / 86,400 |
| Hours | whole part of (what’s left after days) / 3,600 |
| Minutes and seconds | what’s left, in blocks of 60. |
Since every tick is recalculated from the clock instead of subtracting one at a time, it never drifts, even if the tab sits in the background. We tested it: a link created on New York time and opened on a computer set to São Paulo showed the exact same moment, with the right “Your time” line. Use the countdown timer full screen and it reads fine from across a room.
Days until: how many days are left to any date
“Days until” gets about 5,400 searches a month in the US (DataForSEO, October 2026). Enter the end date and the days show first, with hours, minutes and seconds under them. Here is how it counts:
- It measures the gap between two moments: from 12:00 a.m. on December 1 to 12:00 a.m. on December 25 is 24 days, not 25.
- It shows whole days: with 29 days and 23 hours left, you see 29 days.
- It counts calendar days, weekends included. For business days, subtract the weekends by hand.
For a campaign, set the closing date and send three reminders, at 7 days, 3 days and 1 day, each with the link to the same countdown. Whoever opens it sees the same days and the end time in their own time zone.
Black Friday countdown, Christmas countdown and New Year countdown
The shortcuts aren’t typed-in dates. Your browser works them out for the current year at 12:00 AM in your chosen zone, and once a date passes they roll over to the next year.
- Black Friday countdown: Friday, November 27, 2026. The rule is the day after the fourth Thursday of November.
- Christmas countdown: Friday, December 25, 2026, for your store’s or your team’s countdown to Christmas.
- New Year countdown: Friday, January 1, 2027, for the ball drop or your January campaign.

Event countdown ideas that help you sell
- Launches: put the countdown link in your bio and your waitlist emails. Every visit shows how close the drop is.
- Lives and webinars: “Starts in 15 min” plus full screen while people trickle in. To choose the slot, check the best time to post on Instagram.
- Brick-and-mortar: a TV in the window counting down to Black Friday.
- Giveaways: announce when entries close and, right on time, run the spin the wheel picker on camera.
One rule: keep it honest. A timer that resets every time someone reloads is fake urgency, shoppers spot it fast, and it burns the trust your next event countdown depends on. If the sale ends Sunday, end it Sunday.

Frequently asked questions about this countdown timer
How many days until Christmas?
It depends on the day you’re reading this, so we won’t hand you a number that’s stale by tomorrow. Tap “Christmas 2026” under “Key dates” and the timer shows exactly how many days, hours and minutes are left until 12:00 AM on December 25 in your time zone. Christmas 2026 falls on a Friday. Once it passes, the shortcut rolls over to next year’s Christmas on its own.
When is Black Friday 2026?
Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27. It’s always the day after Thanksgiving, which lands on the fourth Thursday of November, and Cyber Monday follows on November 30. Plenty of retailers start their deals earlier in the week, so if you sell online, launch your campaign a few days ahead and point your countdown at Friday to keep the pressure where it counts.
How do I add a countdown timer to my website?
This tool doesn’t give you embed code yet. What you can do is link to it: copy the share link and drop it into a button, a banner or an email, and anyone who opens it sees the same countdown in their own local time. If you need a timer living on the page itself, check your platform’s official app store or block library, whether you’re on Shopify, WordPress or another builder.
How do I make a countdown on Instagram?
Instagram Stories have a countdown sticker: create a story, open the stickers, pick the countdown, give it a name and an end date, and post it. Your followers can tap to get a reminder when it hits zero, which is great for launches and lives. For your website, emails or texts, share this tool’s link as well, since it works outside the app and shows everyone their local time.
